Hey Folks,
Charles Olegar asked me to play at a fundraising event for Waller Hall at Waller Hall on Friday September 25th. If you can come please keep reading, and I hope to see you the 25th.
This is an invitation to join us at Waller Hall on Friday evening, September 25, 7:00 p.m., for a semi-private Openhouse, featuring the superb talents of two Bennington-based ensembles, Welcome Blend, and the Terauds-Lanoue Duo, in the amicable context of a wine & cheese party.
Carrying a cover charge of $20/person, this event is being held as a benefit to support the ongoing production of the weekly radio show "Music from Waller Hall" (WBTN, Bennington ) which showcases local and regional musical talent, most of which is recorded live at Waller Hall. As an openhouse, it will also provide opportunity for many if not most to see first-hand this amazing place!
Welcome Blend is a vocal quartet comprising Benningtonians Mardi Sargent, Amy Kuzmicki, Scott Frost, and Mike Kovage, whose repertoire covers quite a wide spectrum of "oldies", spirituals, folksongs, and the like, all sung unaccompanied in wonderful close-harmony arrangements. Welcome Blend has now done two recording sessions in Waller Hall for our radio show, each notable for the ensemble's fabulous singing and their vast enjoyment of it, which needs to be seen live to fully appreciate!
Earlier in the summer Bassoonist Gerald Lanoue and pianist John Terauds visited Waller to record a marvelous program of music by Gershwin and Bernstein, likewise broadcast on WBTN (the show airs weekly on Sundays at noon, repeated at 6:00), with Jerry's bassoon, so ably supported by John, creating some entirely amazing sonorities, wsupoerbly rendered!
You will enjoy the relative informality of the evening, with excellence to be encountered in the music, refreshments, and the company that your presence will grace, all in the bucolic setting of Waller Hall. The evening is being designed to promote what Germans term gemuetlichkeit ("feelin' good!" ), alternating between segments of musical performance and sociability.
This event will not be open to the general public, so it would be very helpful for us to receive reservations in advance (e-mail charles.olegar@gmail.com) . That said, please do not hesitate to tell others about what promises to be a wonderful evening, encouraging them to contact us accordingly.
You are very much encouraged to visit our website: www.wallerhallmusic.com, on which should be posted our latest newsletter covering a number of the exciting recording sessions that have been taking place at the Hall this summer (only this past week we had a second session with Welcome Blend, and, the day before, Boston Symphony 'cellist Mickey Katz with pianist Constantine Finehouse, one of Boston's highest-profile concert artists and a good friend of Waller Hall .... only two of a number of fruitful sessions as of late). Understandably, piano and organ tuning, hall usage fees, and other expenses can mount up, producing a significant need for financial assistance (those so moved are encouraged to send checks to "Music a Waller Hall" , c/o Charles Olegar, 131 Bellview Rd., Troy, NY 12180. )
WE SO MUCH HOPE TO SEE YOU AT OUR EXCITING OPENHOUSE ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 7:00, pm, AT WALLER HALL (107 Bayer Road, Hoosick, NY.)
