So....I was very excited when Patrice Malatestinic, asked if I would be interested in playing a woodwind quintet. Side-Thought: Still don't have a good answer why the French Horn is in a woodwind quintet. hehe Here is info about fünf,
fünf, the greater Capital Region’s professional woodwind quintet, performs a variety of repertoire which includes traditional and contemporary wind literature as well as newly commissioned works. Part of fünf’s mission is to make chamber music fun and accessible to all audiences. They love performing, educating listeners, and premiering new music. Recent concerts include premieres of work by Nicholas Ascoti’s, Norman Thobodeau, and the area premiere of Mathieu Lussier’s Sextour for winds and contra bassoon. Friday July 31, 2015 will bring the world premiere of Philip Spaeth’s Quintet For Winds composed expressly for fünf to be performed at St Peter’s Roman Catholic church in downtown Saratoga Springs.
fünf ‘s founding members: Norman Thibodeau, flute; Susan Kokernak, oboe; David Ciucevich, clarinet; Patrice Malatestinic, horn; and Gerald Lanoue, bassoon; are free lance musicians playing with a wide array of regional orchestras, operas, and chamber groups, as well as faculty members at SCCC, Niskayuna Schools, CSR, Skidmore College, UVM and Bennington College, respectively.
Btw: f= forte : an expression of loud volume, fun=fun, fünf=5
