Gerald (Jerry) Lanoue.
While at USC I chose to pursue conducting and music education as my secondary courses of study. I thought improving my conducting skills and teaching knowledge would be practical and simulating..
As it happens, I had a wonderful experience learning conducting in the classroom setting with Hans Beir, and also in private lessons from the Former Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, John Barnett, and the then Associate Dean of USC's music school, Douglas Lowry. Doug was the conductor of the acclaimed USC Wind Ensemble. He then went on to become the Dean of the Eastman School and Music and the conductor of the Eastman Wind Ensemble. I miss then both. I learned a tremendous amount during that time between score study, historical study, biographical study, workshops, and the private lessons.
I think that students who can get weekly private instruction at the University level is fortunate. And believe me when you have a hour lesson of waving your arms around and pointing to imaginary people it is a sereal experience.
Currently my conducting skills are being put to use serving as the Music Director and Conductor of the Music Company Orchestra and the Associate Conductor of the Sage City Symphony Orchestra.
As I like to record and publish rehearsals and concert fro continuous improvement of the orchestra. These following have some quality performances by wonderful people. I thought why not share.

Combined MCO & Sage Orchestra
Concert recorded at the North Bennington Village School. Performed by the combined forces of the Sage City Symphony and the Music Company Orchestra on June 28, 2015.
This was a benefit concert to raise funds for the North Bennington Village School's String Program.
All the musicians volunteered their wonderful talents to help raise money for this program to help pay for instruments, instrument repair, and other program expenses.
Sage City Symphony
The mission of the Sage City Symphony is to provide high quality orchestral music to the residents of Bennington County and its surrounding area, to provide an opportunity for musicians of various skill levels to play orchestral music, and to commission new orchestral works which will be performed by the Sage City Symphony.
The Music Company Orchestra is a non-profit community orchestra run by its volunteer musician members. Incorporated in 1974, the orchestra performs concerts free or at a nominal cost so that those who would not ordinarily hear orchestral music can experience the excitement of a live concert.

The Music Company Orchestra
While searching for music and programming ideas, often on YouTube, I saw major symphony orchestras performing video game music. A handful had a video component. I thought what a great idea and wonderful enhancement to the evening. So I opened my faithful computer video editing software, gathered videos and editing them to what you see below. Boy am I glad I started that project early... :-)

Summer 2015
Combined MCO & Sage Orchestra
This was the first year ever that we combined the Southern Vermont based Sage City Symphony and the New York Capital Region based Music Company Orchestra.
The brainchild from the VIOLA section ...(hold the jokes) Karl Brosch. Karl was transitioning from Sage City Board member to President. His first project as president was to help raise funds for the North Bennington Village School's String Program. One of only a handful in the state.
Karl and his partner Ralph Thomas researched tents....believe me it was a process... and you will see them in the videos. BTW they are Hercules Tents and FABULOUS!!! Ralph and Karl purchased these tents out of pocket so this concert and future outdoor concerts could be possible.
We have some wonderful folks up here in Vermont!
